can the wires between battery pack and light switch be cut and spliced to put light further from switch ? 3-4

You could extend the wires on Access LED Light Strip # A80312 if you wanted to. It would not be a problem unless you tried to extend it much further than 3 or 4 feet. However, doing so will void the warranty.
Another option is to use # 3375623755 which you can wire up to the vehicle battery and place wherever you want. I have linked videos on both parts for you.
