I need to know what the measurements are from the bed Edge to the rails 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 custom fifth wheel kit

From the picture that you sent it looks like you have the Curt Custom Fifth Wheel Installation Kit # C16400-204 for your 2008 GMC Sierra.

If this is the case from the end of the bed that the tailgate is connected to, to the rear edge of the rail that sits closest to the cab will be 47.500 inches on a short bed and 52.375 inches for a long bed (see attached picture). This should put your 5th wheel hitch directly above or slightly in front of your rear axle. Keep in mind that these measurements do not include the tailgate; it is from the edge of the bed.

If you have a different custom rail kit please let me know who the manufacturer is and what part number. I should be able to locate the instructions with that information.

Since it doesn't look like you already have a 7-Way in the bed of your Sierra I recommend using the Hopkins # 41157 to make it easier to hook your 5th wheel trailer to your truck's 7-Way.
