Is this hitch work on an Explorer sport trac as well as the Explorer?

We have a very similar hitch that does fit your 2004 Ford Explorer Sport Trac but the # C13550 only fits the non-Sport Trac models.
Instead you would want the Curt hitch part # 13407. This hitch fits all Sport-Trac models including ones with factory hitches.
