Question:
My 2012 Land Rover Range Rover HSE has the tow package. It has 4 pin and 7 pin connection points. Does this mean a brake controller for proportional activation of trailers electric brakes? No would mean connection and software all taken care of by tow package. If Yes, please provide recommendation of products and next steps. Time to go camping soon!! Thanx.

Your 2012 Land Rover Range Rover HSE having a 7-way connector does not mean it has a brake controller installed. It is a good thing it has a 7-way as that makes installing a controller easy, but yours would only have trailer lighting options active currently.
For a brake controller you need an install harness and the controller itself.
For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885. This is our best selling brake controller because of how well it works and how easy it is to setup. This is a proportional brake controller that senses the amount of braking the tow vehicle is applying and applies a proportionate amount to the trailer brakes.
For an install harness you then would need the part # 3035-P which will plug into the controller and then attach to the port under the dash of your vehicle. You will be looking for a 6-prong gray rectangular plug near the steering column.
