I'm unable to access an online version of the owner's manual for your 2007 Chevrolet Malibu. But if it says it shouldn't be used for towing then I can't recommend going against the manufacturer's recommendations.
We do have trailer hitch receivers that will fit your car, like the Curt # C12272. Keep in mind this hitch fits model years 2004 through 2008 of the Malibu so the user reviews might be from a different model year than yours that can be used to tow. Also, hitch receivers can be used for other purposes such as carrying a bike rack or cargo carrier.
