Availability of Electric Drum Trailer Brakes with 4-Bolt Mounting Flange

Updated 02/06/2017 | Published 02/03/2017

Question:

Will any of your 5 hole electric brakes fit a 4 bolt flange? I am looking for electric brake assemblys to fit 5,200 lb axles with 4 bolt flange

Trailer brakes should be selected based on the axle weight rating to ensure they have the correct stopping power. All of our electric drum brakes that are rated for 5200-lb axles are the 12 x 2-inch size and use a 5-bolt mounting flange. We do have 4-bolt electric brakes in the 10 x 2-1/4-inch size that are rated for 4400- and 3500-lb-rated axles, such as # K23-478-00.

You can see all of these on the linked page. Just click on the 4400-lb axle rating to see the left- and right-hand brakes for this axle. The linked photo will show you a hub/drum and this will help you confirm which size brake you need.

If you need to change your brake flanges please refer to the other linked page. Flanges require specialized welding equipment to ensure they are straight and concentric. This is best left to a trailer professional who has the required jigs.
