How to Install Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2010 Honda Civic Sedan

Published 01/06/2017

Question:

Would appreciate any guidance on how to run the red wire from the wiring harness up to my battery. I expect to find plastic shrouds under the car, since the installation video on the hitch I bought shows the need to temporarily remove a large shroud where the hitch bolts to the frame. There’s also going to be the exhaust system and Lord knows what other obstacles between the trunk and the battery. I’ll need to secure the wire up securely where nothing will snag it. I’m hoping e-trailer has done similar installs and has suggestions on the least painful/best route for the wire. Maybe even on the interior of the car, under the carpet, thru the firewall?

You are in luck. Since your 2010 Honda Civic Sedan is not a SL or Hybrid model, you will not need to install a 12-volt power wire up to your battery.

All you will need is the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector, # 118420. The Tekonsha wiring harness is an easy install with no cutting or splicing of wires. All the wiring hook-ups will be at the rear of your Civic and plug into existing wiring plugs on your vehicle.

I have linked a video on how to install this wiring harness on your Honda. This video shows a 2009 Honda Civic, but the installation will be the same on the 2010 model.
