To be able to install a cargo box on your 2016 Nissan Pathfinder that still has the factory side roof rails, you will need to install some cross bars first. After the cross bars are installed you can then go on to install the cargo box. I recommend getting the Rhino Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack # RRVA126B-2 to use for your cross bars.

Once we have the cross bars installed then we can start looking at cargo boxes. The next step in this process is to find out what the rear hatch clearance is on your Pathfinder. You can do this by moving the front cross bar as far forward as you can and measuring from the middle of the front cross bar to the location where your hatch opens; this is what we call the front clearance. I will attach a photo to demonstrate what I am talking about.

The last step would be to determine what cargo box will fit on your Pathfinder once you have completed the measurements. The largest cargo box that we have in cubic feet is the Yakima Skybox 21 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y07337 which requires 57 inches of front clearance and is 21 cubic feet. If that is too big, we still have the Yakima SkyBox NX 16 Rooftop Cargo Box # Y95AV which features 16 cubic feet and has a front clearance of 47 inches.
