The Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver Class III that you are referring to, # 75761, is the same hitch for both the 2012 and 2013 models of the BMW X1. Any changes made by BMW between those two years did not change the fit of the trailer hitch receiver.
To use this hitch receiver for towing purposes, I would recommend using an adjustable ball mount like the Curt Channel Style Adjustable Ball Mount, # C45900. This ball mount will allow you to tow your trailer level and gives you the option of two hitch ball sizes. I've attached an article on ball mounts to help you determine the rise or drop of your trailer if you choose to go with a fixed ball mount. You may also want to consider a hitch lock like # e98882 to secure your ball mount to your hitch receiver.
For your wiring needs, I'd recommend the Curt Upgraded Circuit Protected Powered Tail Light Converter w Hardwire Kit and Tester - 4-Pole Flat # C59496. This will give you a 4-way connection to connect to your trailer. I've attached a video of this install for you.
These parts will complete your towing setup for your 2012 BMW X1.
