Question:
When I stand in the opening/entry, left to right I consider the width, front to back I consider the length why do they measure it bass ackwards or am I ?

I attached the dimensions for the tent part # SAR024 that you referenced. Sorry for any confusion but they call the length 10 feet but I would probably call that width like you too. The "width" then would be 6 feet with the height being 6'6".
