Can 205/75-15 Trailer Tires be Used in Place of 235/75-15 Tires on an Airstream Trailer

Question:

I have a 31foot Airstream. It was 235/75R 15s. Can I replace them with a 205/75R15 D rated tire?

The 235/75-15 is not a common trailer tire size. I recommend staying close to that though so you can use the same wheels. The closest match is a 225/75-15 and I have included a link to all of the tires we have in that size.

If you actually have 225/75-15 and want to go to a the 205/75-15 then it will fit the same wheels as long as they are 6 to 6-1/2 inches wide. Wheel width is measured on the inside where the tires sit and is usually about 1 inch less than the overall width of the wheel.

The 205 will also have a lower capacity, up to 2,150 pounds at most in the highest available load range. And they will be a total of 1.3 inches shorter than the 225. I have linked all of the 205s as well as our trailer tire help articles.
