Recommended Circuit Tester For Converter Box Wiring

Question:

Can i test the wires before the converter box in my wiring harness without splitting the wire? Can I just put my testing device up to the wire?

There are a couple ways to test the wiring circuit but the testers we offer do require piercing the wire jacket so the probe can touch the actual wire. I spoke with one of our best installers and they told me you can use a bit of silicone to cover the wire where it was pierced and then use electrical tape to seal it off and prevent future corrosion or issues.

Another way is to just sever the lines and use either butt connectors or shrink connectors when you have completed the testing. I have attached a link to our product page for the butt connectors we offer.

I recommend a tester like part # PTW2993. this tester has multiple attachments that can be used for wiring or connectors.
