Would these items be an appropriate setup? trailer hitch C12047 draw bar C45519 hitch ball C40018 Do any of the above items come with a pin and clip? Expert Reply:
The 2010 Subaru Forester is rated for 2,400 pounds gross trailer weight as long as the trailer has brakes. If the trailer does not have brakes it is limited to 1,000 pounds.
For a trailer hitch that will cover the towing capacity of the vehicle you can indeed use # C12047. The recommended ball mount is # C45521 along with the pin and clip # F-4.
For a 2 inch ball you can use # C40018.
You will also need a trailer wiring harness on your Forester. If the trailer has electric brakes then it likely has a 7-Way connector so the vehicle will need to be fitting with one as well as a brake controller. First you will need to install a 4-Way, # 118467. Then to add the 7-Way you will need # ETBC7. I have included some links that show and explain the ETBC7 installation for you.
And for a brake controller I recommend the P2 # 90885 because it is easy to set up and use and it is reliable.
