Question:

I have a 2005 GMC Yukon and need a hitch mount bike rack to carry at least 3 bikes preferably 4. I want something sturdy, tilting and relatively easy. What is your best recommendation?

We have lots of 4-bike racks that are sturdy and easy to use. For tilting it will depend on why you need it to tilt. If you need the bike rack to tilt WITH bikes loaded then there are certain racks we need to look at. If you want a rack that tilts WITHOUT the bikes loaded then we can look at other racks.

For a 4-bike model that tilts, is sturdy, and is easy to use I recommend the Thule Camber Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting - Steel # TH9056. This rack tilts out but not when the the bikes are loaded.

There is a great option that allows you to tilt out away from the vehicle with four bikes loaded. It is a platform style rack. The Inno Tire Hold Bike Rack for 4 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Tilting # INH142. This would be a premium option.

Another option is a bike rack that swings off to the side such as the Apex # TH9027XT. Instead of tilting it swings towards the passenger's side of the vehicle, with or without bikes loaded, so you can open the rear hatch.

I have included links to this and the other bike racks listed above. I would not say that any of them are difficult to use. The swinging Vertex requires the most steps in order to swing but it is still easy to use.
