Question:
Included in items for base plate BX3317 are two 2 36inch safety cables and fasteners. Installation instructions do not mention these items. What are they for, theyre too short to use between motorhome and towed vehicle.? Thank you

They are basically a safety chain setup for the base plate kit. They are designed to attach to the frame of the vehicle and the base plate kit.
This is actually a common issue that our installers also deal with on many different vehicles. It is not spelled out in the instructions but since these base plates do not have an attachment point especially for the short cables included with the base plates you will have to loop the cables around the base plate assembly and around the frame somewhere near by.
There isn't a specific place they have to go so long as they are attached from the base plate to the frame. Wrap the cables around closer to the ends of the base plate main assembly so the cables are closer to the frame rails. Just to make sure you are attaching the cables in the right spot, the mounts in the front are for the cables that go from the base plates to the towing vehicle so the short cables do not connect at that point.
