Question:
installed 2 yrs ago - everything worked fine - recently checked lights on trailer when hooked to tow vehicle 2010 Honda gl1800 motorcycle, only had left brake light - disconnected trailer and checked all lights with separate battery - all trailer lights work normally - Question - has my 46365 died? should I get and install a new one, or another number? What is the likeliest cause of the failure?

Trailer shorts often times take out the converter boxes like the 46365 that you have. Most likely something shorted out and damaged it. The boxes are designed to fail like this though as a way to protect the vehicle wiring.
Basically you would will to go over your trailer wiring looking for any shorts from cut or exposed wire, fix as necessary and then replace the converter.
