Roof Rack for 2014 Toyota Camry to Carry 14 Foot Porta-Bote

Question:

I need to buy a roof rack for my 2014.5 Toyota Camry. Its going to be used to carry a 14foot Porta-Bote which weighs 108 pounds, and which folds flat to a height of about 7inch and has a width of 24. Its about the same specs as a paddle board or long and heavy surfboard. I saw your demo video regarding the Rhino Rack and would like to buy that from you. Is there also a rack that could be a part of that system which runs parallel to the length of the vehicle and which would therefore be a way to connect or bridge the 2 cross bars on the Rhino Rack? Having a support rail in between the cross bars would make it easier to rest the folded boat against the car, and which would act as a fulcrum when it is lifted onto or lowered down from the car. Thank you.

The Rhino-Rack roof rack system that you saw in the video that is confirmed to fit your 2014 Toyota Camry is the Rhino-Rack Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRVA118B-2 with 2500 Series Legs # RRRLKVA and Custom DK Fit Kit # DK321.

For a load assist that has a high enough capacity to help load your 108 pound Porta-Bote, you can use the Rhino-Rack Universal Load Assist # RR-RUSL. This load assist will mount on the Vortex Aero crossbar to help provide an extension of the crossbar to more easily load the boat. I've attached a review video of this load assist for you.

We do offer one load assist with a bar that runs perpendicular to the roof rack crossbars, but it has only a 90 pound weight capacity, so it will not work well for your Porta-Bote.

To help secure your boat to the roof of your vehicle, you can use the Rhino-Rack Cam Buckle Cinch Straps # RRRTD35P. These straps are 15/16 inch thick x 11-1/2 feet long and they have a safe working load limit of 165 pounds. The straps feature an injection-molded, rubber buck protector to help protect your vehicle and boat from the cinch strap. If you need to secure the bow and stern of your boat during transport, the Yakima Bow/Stern Tie-Down Ropes with Ratches and Strap Loops # Y04031 is a great solution.

The Rhino-Rack roof rack has a weight capacity of 130 pounds. I looked through the 2014 Camry's owner's manual and was not able to find a listed roof weight capacity. You can check with your local Toyota dealer to see if there is a recommended carrying capacity for the roof of your Camry.
