When a brake controller installation causes the ABS warning lamp to go off, it indicates that the red wire from the brake controller is connected to the wrong wire. If the brake controller was hardwired, the red brake controller wire should be tapped into the wire that only shows voltage on it with the brake pedal pressed, not with the turn signal, head lights or any other function. Use a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to confirm that the circuit the red brake controller wire is tapped into only shows voltage when the brake pedal is pressed.
If a brake controller wiring adapter harness was used, be sure you're using the correct harness for the year, make and model of your vehicle. You can use our fitguide to input the year, make and model of vehicle, then click on the brake controller option where you'll be shown the correct wiring adapter for your vehicle.
