How Involved is the Installation of Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 24757 on a 2009 Hyundai Sonata

Question:
Tech tip says appearance panel which covers drivers side frame rail must be removed. I installed a similar product on a 2000 Elantra and do not recall removing anything. Is this something that should be left to someone more mechanically inclined?

You would only need to remove this appearance panel to install Draw-Tite hitch # 24757 if your 2009 Sonata does not have dual exhaust. The referenced panel is basically a cover-up piece for the area where the second exhaust pipe would have been, and it should not be difficult for you to access or remove. If you do have this panel, you would simply take it off by removing the seven fasteners that attach it to the vehicle.
Once the appearance panel is out of the way, the installation for hitch # 24757 is actually very straight forward. You would just line the hitch up with your vehicle's tow bracket, and install a U-bolt in the center hitch holes, then install bolts through the two side holes, into the existing weld nuts on your vehicle.
I have included a link to the installation instructions below, to give you a better idea on whether this would be something you would feel comfortable doing, and you can also see a video of the same hitch being installed on a 2010 Sonata, which should be nearly identical to your 2009.
