Trailer Hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2002 Acura TLS

Question:

I am trying to be as economical as possible with installing my hitch but more important i would want it to be as non noticeable as possibe. I was looking at the one that I would drill into the spare tire well but then realized I would still need to add a strap to the trunk, which I didnt like about the trunk bike racks. I dont want anything touching the trunk or paint etc. Could you make me a recommendation based on this? Eventually I may want to tow something small like a small trailer or something but I can buy a the added stuff later ball hitch, wire harness etc Right now Im concentrating on just using it with a bike rack. Thank you.

The only trailer hitch that fits your 2002 Acura TLS and that does not require the use of a stabilization strap is Draw-Tite hitch # 24791 and it will only fit if the vehicle has the 3.2 liter motor. The hitch is mostly hidden because of how far back it mounts. You would have to be right behind the vehicle and low to the ground to see the cross tube.

If your Acura has the 2.5 liter motor then the only option is Curt trailer hitch # C11290 which does require stabilization strap # 18050 like you mentioned.

For either hitch you will need a bike rack that is compatible with a Class I hitch. Class I trailer hitches are limited to 2 bikes maximum. For a Class I compatible bike rack I recommend the Swagman Trailhead # S63360. It holds 2 bikes, has anti-say cradles, and a 3 inch rise in the shank for better ground clearance. I have linked a video review of this rack for you.
