Question:

I have the modulate converter and hooked up to a new trailer at night and all the lights started to blink. It then blew a fuse to the converter. Im assuming it had to many running lights. The they make a super duty converter? What can I do?

It is possible that your trailer has too many running lights and it overdrew the converter causing it to blow. There is a heavy duty converter, # 119250KIT, but it is a hardwire installation and not a T-connector style. You can use it but it without splicing into the tail light wiring but would need to circuit test your wires to get it installed. It is rated for 7.5 amps per circuit for running lights.

There could also be a short on the trailer side that caused the problem. Check the trailer connector for any dirt or corrosion and inspect the wiring to each of the lights. Fix any pinched or damaged wires that you find. If it is a short and that short is not repaired then the problem will keep happening.

Another possible solution, if it is just a matter of having too many lights, is to switch the lights to LEDs. LED lights draw much less power than incandescent lights so it would not overload the converter. I have included a link to the LED trailer lights we carry.
