Question:

I am looking at purchasing a trailer lift gate assist, but am not sure the weight of my lift gate. I have a 5x10 trialer with one piece lift gate. Would I be able to just put scale under lift gate when I let it down?

Since the weight capacity of the Rack'Em Double Barrel Utility Trailer Tailgate Lift Assist # RA-27C is 200 lbs I can safely say that if you are able to lift the ramp of the trailer by yourself within reason this ramp assist is going to help. Especially on a 5 x 10 trailer.

If you wanted to put a scale under the ramp with it setting level on the scale you would end up knowing what half of the weight of the ramp would be.
