Question:
Hello, getting our 04 Dodge Durango SLT 4.7 with no factory tow package ready to haul a open car trailer and a travel trailer. Would the Curt #C57674, 4 to 7 pole adapter mated to the Tow Ready #118390 custom wiring kit be a good choice? We already have a new in box Reese Tow Power 74642 brake controller. It should be adiquite, correct? Thanks!

I can help you get your 2004 Dodge Durango ready to haul your trailers.
Yes, the Curt # C57674 4 pole to 7 pole adapter mated to the Tow Ready # 118390 kit would be a good idea to convert your 4 pole harness to a 7 pole opening while still having use of the original 4 pole. What is neat about this adapter is the LED indicator lights on the side will display proper connections. I have linked a installation video of the custom fit wiring harnesses installed on your vehicle and a video of the adapter installed on a similar video for your convenience.
I have heard of some brake controllers reading a trailer being present, when there is no connection due to the LED indicator lights. We offer a similar adapter, # ETBC7, to the Curt adapter that includes a mounting bracket and tester for the adapter but not the LED indicator lights on the plug.
If you haven't gotten a hitch, the one I recommend for your Durango is the Draw-Tite # 75292, because of its no drill application. Some other items to consider if you plan on towing are a ball mount, ball, and pin and clip. The size ball will be determined by the size of coupler your trailer has but the common sized balls are 1-7/8 inches and 2 inch, we offer a kit # 989900 with all these types of parts for your conveninece.
