In order to tow your 2006 Hummer H2 using a tow bar, you will first need to install base plates. I recommend base plate kit # 2506-3. I did some research and found that the curb weight of your Hummer H2 is about 6,600 pounds. You will need a tow bar that can handle this much weight and is compatible with the MX style of base plates. I recommend the RoadMaster Blackhawk 2 All Terrain Tow Bar, # RM-422. This tow bar is capable of up to 10,000 pounds.
You will also need safety cables and a light kit as required by law. For cables, I recommend the Roadmaster 64 inches Double Hook, Straight Safety Cables, # RM-645. For a light kit, if you plan on towing the Hummer often, I recommend the Tail Light Isolating Diode System with Wiring Harness, # 38955. I have included a link to a video demonstration and a video installation of this kit below. For a more temporary solution, you can use the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, # RM-2120.
You will need to check with the manufacturer for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your Hummer because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.
