Tongue Weight Rating of Trailer Hitch for a 2015 Mazda 5

Question:
Hello, Looking to add a trailer hitch to tow a small 8foot camping pop-up trailer. Its is about 700 lbs. I am not too sure what the tongue weight is but I dont anticipate it exceeds maybe 200lbs? Vehicle is not rated for towing but based on some calculation,s I believe I should be able to manage just fine with some caution. What is the tongue weight rating on this product? There are so many conflicting pieces of information out there that I am going straight to the source. Anyone done something like this on a 2014/5 Mazda 5? Please let me know at your convenience. Thx

For your 2015 Mazda 5 the Draw Tite hitch part # 24874 has been confirmed as a fit. The tongue weight rating of this hitch is 200 lbs. Which means it can handle 200 lbs of vertical weight at the hitch opening. A 700 lb trailer would most likely have a tongue weight right around 70 lbs.
That being said, if the owners manual of your vehicle states that you can't tow with it there's nothing we can recommend for you that would allow you to do so. You can also check with a Mazda dealer to see what they say as well.
I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out as well.
