Question:

Hallo I am looking for the best offroad chains for my sprinter. I have 215/85 16 tires fitted The rear has duallys. I am looking to drive offroad and a chain that drives well in Mud. I see the Pewag chains are quite a bit more that the USA product. What is the real differance.

Pewag tire chains are made of higher quality steel and other metals than the less costly chains. They will hold up better which will limit the number of replacement chains you would have to purchase. In the long term it would save you money to go with higher quality chains if you use chains frequently. Pewag has also existed in metal works for over 700 years!

For only occasional use a less expensive and lower quality chain will work just fine.

We have numerous chains for the 215/85-16 tire size that can be used on and off road. The chains that will provide the most traction are square link chains because they get more of a bite into the terrain compared to twist links and V-bar styles.

The best chains are going to be # PWE4219SC. These are square links constructed of a nickel manganese alloy steel for durability and corrosion resistance. These chains are specifically designed to fit on the dually rear tires only.

A step down from these are Titan chains # TC2219SCAM. It has smaller links and a lesser quality metal. They include cam tighteners but those can only do so much. I recommend adding tensioners to maintain chain tension and position, # TCSA2.

I would use the Pewag chains in the back since those are the main drive wheels. For the front the Titan chains would be fine but Pewag chains # PWE2435S would be even better.
