Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 2008 Titan Towing R-Vision Maxlite 27 Travel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2008 Nissan Titan and would be towing a 2007 R-Vision Maxlite 27. The trailer has a TGVW of 7600 lb and a dry hitch weight of 601 lb. CAn you recommend a weight distribution system? Thanks

To choose a weight distribution system, you'll need to first determine the fully loaded and ready to tow tongue weight of your trailer. To that figure, add the weight of any gear stowed in the cargo area of the SUV or truck bed behind the rear axle. I've linked to an FAQ article that explains how to do this. These combined figures comprise the Total Tongue Weight (TTW) of your set-up. The TTW of your trailer should fall as close as possible to the middle of the effective range of the weight distribution system you choose.

I believe you're on the right track with the # RP66560 Reese Steadi-Flex system you referenced, but since the system is most effective for trailers with tongue weights from 600-1200 lbs, it is very likely that you'll be better going with the lower rated # RP66559 which is rated for tongue weights of 500-1000 lbs. Once you conclusively determine your tongue weight, you'll have a better idea of which of the two systems would work better for you. Either system includes the weight distributing shank, but you'll need to purchase the ball separately. For a 2 inch ball, use part # A-90 or # 19286 for a 2-5/16 inch ball
