Attaching Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Jack Directly To Trailer Battery

Question:

Can you advise how I can convert the 7-way plug on UF38-944037 to wire directly to the battery on my trailer? Do I just simply cut the 7-way plug off and use one of the wires to the battery positive terminal? If so, which wire? Also, do I need a circuit breaker or fuse in between the battery and jack? If so, what size fuse?

To wire the Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Jack, part # UF38-944037 to your trailer, all you have to do is cut the plug off, separate the red from the black wire and connect the red to the positive post on the battery and the black wire to the negative post on the battery.

My contact at Ultra-Fab also told me they recommend using an inline 40 amp fuse for the positive cable.
