In order to use a tow bar with your Jeep, you will need to add base plates, # RM-521423-4 for models without brush guard or # 521426-1 for models with brush guard. You will then need to add Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter, # RM-025, to be able to use the Tow Ready Tow Bar, # 63180. Keep in mind that this tow bar is rated for towing speeds of 45 miles per hour or less.

The RoadMaster Tracker Tow Bar, # RM-020, may be a much better choice if you will be towing often or long distances. This tow bar would not require the adapter, but to make the tow bar easily removable you will need a set of quick disconnects, # RM-201.

When towing a vehicle, you will also want to add safety cables as required by law. I recommend the RoadMaster 68 Inch Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-643.

You will also need a light kit for the Wrangler. For a temporary lighting solution, use the Magnetic Towing Light Kit, # RM-2120. These lights have a magnet that will stick to a flat metal surface and plug into a 4-flat on the tow vehicle. For a more permanent solution, I recommend the Tail Light Isolating Diode System with Wiring Harness, # 38955. I have included an installation video and demonstration video of this kit below.

Some states require a supplemental braking system installed in the vehicle that is being towed. Check with your state laws or state department of transportation to see if you will need to add a supplemental braking system.

Finally, you will need to check with the manufacturer for instructions on the proper procedure for towing your vehicle because some vehicles must be equipped with a transmission lube pump, an axle disconnect, drive line disconnect, or free-wheeling hubs before they can be towed.
