Could a Timbren Axle Less System be Used to Add an Axle to Leaf Spring Trailer
Published 09/02/2015 >
Question:
I have a Coleman camping trailer Im converting for another use. Wondering if I can add your axle less suspension to the trailer with the current leaf spring for a tandem axle trailer if matched for weight and positioned properly?

As long as you can get the spindle height of the Timbren system part # ASR2000S01 to match your other axle you should be just fine to use it with a standard style axle.
The center of this spindle will end up being 2-5/8 inches below the bottom of the frame rail.
You will also need one that has the same capacity as the axle now so that there is little to no difference in the suspension.
You can put the system forward or rearward of the existing axle but it will depend on where the additional weight is going to be and how long the trailer is. I have included a picture with a formula that explains how to determine where the center point should be on a tandem axle trailer that you can use.
