How To Tow Popup Camper and Hitch Mount Bike Rack At The Same Time
Published 08/19/2015 >
Question:
I have a 2015 Honda Pilot, i bought this extension so i could tow my 2200 lb popup camper and use my thule bike rack hitch as well. I ran into some issues and have not towed yet with it. 1. chains arent long enough, so i need to buy longer ones. 2. the wiring harness from camper to vehicle is 3inch short. What solution is there for this? I just need some sort of connector to go in between. 3. Back to weight for this hitch, Honda Pilot is rated for 3500 lbs towing capacity. So, based on additional reading/reviews, this hitch is a 50 reduction of that, 1750 lbs towing. Appears it wont work, correct? Any options?

You are correct in that it will not work for you to tow your popup camper with the MT70070 dual hitch.
In order to carry your hitch mount bike rack while towing your camper, you will want to use something like the MaxxTow Ball Mount with 2 Inch Accessory Receiver # MT70066. This will provide you with a ball mount to tow your popup and a 2 inch receiver in which to carry your bike rack. The # MT70066 will not extend out from your vehicle in the same way as the # MT70070. This means that the safety chains and trailer connector you already have should still work. Also, the # MT70066 maintains the weight capacity of your hitch.
