Brake controllers are not vehicle specific, and virtually any of them can be installed on any vehicle. The Tekonsha Voyager, part # 39510, can be used on your 2009 GMC Yukon, just make sure that you have it wired properly.
If your Yukon came with a 7-Way from the factory, all you will need is the brake controller as the Yukon is pre-wired for it.
You will follow the instructions on the article you were looking at. There should be a bundle of wires taped up behind the brake pedal. There should either be 4 or 5 wires in the bundle, Red/Black, White, Light Blue/White, Dark Blue and sometimes an Orange or Brown. The Red/Black wire on the Yukon will connect to the black wire on the Voyager. White on Yukon to white on controller. Light Blue/White to red on controller. And Dark Blue on Yukon to blue on controller.
Once this is done, the brake controller is wired and now it needs to be activated by connecting two power posts in the engine bay. Follow the instructions in the article for locating the wires. You will also need two nuts to fit those post, part # 185917 and part # 185916.
