Installing P3 Brake Controller on 2014 Yukon Denali

Updated 07/01/2024 | Published 02/08/2015

Question:

Requesting your advice on installing the Tekonsha P3 91095 on our 2014 GMC Yukon Denali. The wiring harness has 4 wires dark blue-AUX, red/black-BATT, light blue/white-CHMSL, white-GRND. Not sure whats under the hood that needs connected. Probably a lot easier than Im making it! Thanks

I would be happy to help! I attached a help article for you to check out that details exactly how the P3 Brake Controller part # 90195 will install in your 2014 GMC Yukon, but basically here is how the wires will attach.

Red/Black from Yukon to Black of the Brake Controller. This is the Battery/Power Circuit
White to White. This is the Ground
Light Blue/White from Yukon to Red of Brake Controller. This is Brake Light Signal Circuit.
Dark Blue from Yukon to Blue of Brake Controller. This is Brake Output to Trailer brakes
Orange of the Yukon is not used.

Do these wiring instructions work on a 2014 Yukon Denali with a factory integrated trailer brake controller? My new boat trailer is electric-over-hydraulic and the ITBC on the 2014 and earlier Yukons apparently doesn’t work with those. Much appreciated!

@Gary The wiring colors should be the same that run to your ITBC so you can swap them to a new controller like the P3 part # 90195 that is EOH compatible.
