According to the owner's manual, your 2014 Transit Connect can only be towed at speeds up to 35 mph for a distance up to 50 miles. Towing at higher speeds and greater distances will damage the transmission.
In the manual, Ford states that using a trailer or a car dolly like part # RM-2050-1 are the only acceptable methods of flat towing the vehicle.
Neither Roadmaster Nor Blue Ox offer base plates for the vehicle. The # BX2655 base plate you referenced is for the Ford Transit, not the Transit Connect.
