Question:
While the Acura dealership says they can install a trailer hitch rated for 1,500 pounds of maximum towing weight capacity with a maximum tongue weight capacity of 150, I see that you are offering a hitch rated at 3,500/350 pounds model C12083. Is the 2016 Acura RDX limited to 1,500/150 pounds for reasons other than the particular hitch that is installed e.g., frame, brakes, engine..., or could I install the C12083 and tow up to 3,500/350 pounds?

The trailer hitch # C12083 is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. But your 2016 Acura RDX could be rated differently. In this case you always go by the lower rating. I checked the owner's manual for the 2016 RDX and it is rated for 1,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 150 pounds tongue weight so you would be limited to that.
Acura has determined that the vehicle design makes the vehicle capable of no more than 1,500 pounds.
If you go with Curt trailer hitch # C12083 then for a ball mount use # C45521. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch use # 19258. And for trailer wiring use # 56008.
