Troubleshooting Brake Controller that Intermittently Works

Question:
With test light plug to ground and brake pig tail light comes on controller reads numbers . When pug up camper it read er some times numbers some times

Sounds like you have corrosion on the brake output circuit of your trailer connectors. Try scuffing up the pins of both connectors (trailer and tow vehicle), with some fine grit sandpaper to help improve the connection between the two.
If not that try looking for loose or damaged wire on the brake output circuit as well.
