Is a Circuit Breaker Needed Between the Winch and Vehicle Battery on 2014 Ram 3500
Updated 07/01/2015 | Published 06/30/2015 >
Question:
Shouldn't there be a circuit breaker mounted between the battery post and the 25 foot of cable running along the vehicle frame just in case of a short circuit so that you would not fry your battery or start a fire. and what circuit breaker do you have available and a part number please As I am going to run wires to the front and rear of my 2014 RAM duly to be able to mount the winch on either the front or the rear of the vehicle with Quick Connect part number 22 36. thanks,

Expert Reply:
The winch will have circuit breakers built into it to prevent over draw on the vehicle battery. If using a winch that does not have its own built-in circuit breakers then you could install your own in line between the winch and the battery. The circuit breaker you would use is going to depend on the power draw of the winch being used. I have included a link to all of the circuit breakers we carry.
