Will this hitch work on a 2008 Smart car?

Yes. The Curt Trailer Hitch, # 11020, will fit your 2008 Smart ForTwo as long as it is not a Brabus model. I have included a link to the installation instructions below.
You may also be interested in trailer wiring to add a 4-Way connection at the back of the vehicle. You would need 4-Pole Hardwire Kit Including Circuit Tester, # 18252. I have included an installation video below. Installation will be similar on your vehicle.
