The best solution for transporting your dog kennel on your 2006 Chevrolet Corvette convertible is to install a trailer hitch on the back of the car and then use a hitch-mount carrier. There is a hitch offered for your Vette (as long as it does NOT have the Dual Mode exhaust) and that is part # C11380 from Curt. The hitch bolts on using included hardware and requires just a bit of drilling. The linked install video and article will help you through the installation process.

This light-duty Class I hitch has a 1-1/4-inch receiver opening and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 200-lbs maximum. This means that the total weigh load on the hitch from the carrier and your kennel combined cannot exceed 200-lbs. Its also a good idea to check your Corvette owner's manual for any tongue weight capacity limits because the car and hitch may have different ratings. The lower-rated one determines the overall limit.

Now you can install a Class I cargo carrier to hold your dog kennel, such as Curt # C18110 or one of the others shown on the linked page.

You will need to use a stabilizing strap, required by Curt's warranty, to help support the carrier in the hitch. Use part # 18050 or a similar item. You can use ratcheting tie down straps to hold the kennel on the carrier, such as # 34414 from Erickson.
