Curt Powered Taillight Converter C56347 Installation on 2014 Kia Sedona

Question:

Does the black power wire need installed on the 2014 Sedona, like some others or not. The flat plug is getting power to the wire connections per lights without the black wire, but there is confusion here for whether to connect the black wire of the box to the battery as well. Please tell me for sure on this, as well be pulling a trailer this weekend. Thank you

The black wire does indeed need to be connected to the positive battery terminal, through the supplied fuse holder.

The converter box receives the signals from the taillight circuits, but it gains the voltage necessary to illuminate the trailer lights from the black power wire.
