Can Brake Controllers be Installed in a Vehicle without an Install Harness 3023-P

any damage to look for if the controller was installed without the 3023-p harness?

Brake controllers can be hardwired to vehicles as they do not have to install with an install adapter like the part # 3023-P. Actually most vehicles do not have a quick install harness available so the hardwire option is a very common route.
If the brake controller is not working and is a vehicle that calls for the # 3023-P being installed on it the problem is most likely due to the fact that it is an older model brake controller that is not compatible with your truck, and because due to the complicated brake wiring of your vehicle it is nearly impossible to get a controller to function without the # 3023-P.
Only newer proportional brake controllers like the P2 # 90885 will work with the vehicles that the # 3023-P call for.

Well, firstly, this clear some of my confusion as I didn't know I could hardwire a brake controller to a vehicle. I have a question though, I just installed a Hopkins 47185 Multi-Tow 4 Flat to 7 Blade and 4 Flat Adapter on my 2013 Mazda CX-9. How would I hardwire the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller? Or, is there a controller you recommend that can make installation easier, perhaps "piggy backing" to the Hopkins adapter?
