Is there a Weight Capacity for the Master Lock Hitch Receiver and Coupler Latch Lock Set
Published 06/05/2015 >
Question:
im towing a 7500lb car hauler with a bull dog coupler what is the weight rating for this pin and will the second pin fit the bull dog coupler
asked by: Jose
Expert Reply:
Hitch pins and locks don't actually bear any of the weight of a trailer or accessory so they don't have weight ratings. The only weight capacities you need to consider are for the tow vehicle, the hitch, ball mount, and hitch ball. The tongue weight of a trailer puts so much downward force on the ball mount that it binds it up so well in the hitch that the hitch pin doesn't actually have any force put on it.
The hitch or ball mount would fail before the hitch pin would.
The pin hole for the Bulldog Collar Lok hitches is 5/16 of an inch in diameter so the 1/4 inch pin of the # 1481DAT would fit it well.
