The B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit # BWGNXA2061 should last the life of the truck if not longer.
The ball is going to have a 30,000 pound rating so its tough. It might get some scratches or dings over time but unless metal is being scraped away, diminishing the diameter of the ball, there is nothing to worry about.
