There is no existing hole in the tailgate of my 2003 F150. Im stumped as to what to do next.

I attached a picture that shows the hole that the nutsert of the DeeZee Tailgate Assist Custom Tailgate-Lowering System # DZ43203 that you referenced will need to install into. It sounds like you may have a SuperCrew model that does not have the hole needed.
The picture is from the install video for this system that I attached that shows this product being installed on a 2003 Ford F series truck just like yours. If you still can't find the hole feel free to email me back a picture of your tailgate in the same area as the picture that is attached so that I can see what is going on.
