It sounds like you are asking which is better, a cushioned pin box or a cushioned fifth wheel hitch. Ideally you would want a fifth wheel hitch that has jaw design that provides great contact with the king pin of a cushioned pin box.
The Trailair Air Ride 5th Wheel Pin Box # LC158778 would be a great option for if you have a Lipper 1621 pin box. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out as well.
