Should the Lever of the Curt E16 Slider Hitch Be Pulled While Standing In Truck Bed

Question:

Unable to pull slider handle when standing beside truck. Handle is to low. Can stand on ladder to reach better but is still to hard to pull.

It sounds like you are trying to pull the slider release lever of the Curt Hitch part # 16516 while standing in the bed of the truck.

The lever is designed so that it's the easiest to grab while standing next to the truck. Try that and see as it should be much easier.

It seems like they make trucks and their bed rails taller and taller every year. I could see how this could make reaching into the truck bed and activating the slider a bit more difficult. If you can reach the slider and it still is giving you troubles it could be that your fifth wheel rails aren't perfectly square, which would then cause the slider to bind up. Try comparing your rails to the attached dimensional picture.
