Question:
My 2001 GMC used a quick connector to plug and play and when the key was off the led would turn off also. On my 2008 GMC we hard wired it in as your demo video showed. trailer brakes work just fine but the led lights stay on after you pull the key. We are useing the P3 control

Most brake controllers like the P3 part # 90195 will stay active for several minutes after the vehicle is turned off and then will eventually go into sleep mode. The small LED light draws such a small amount that it would it would not cause your battery to drain.
