Question:
What is the code 5.H
asked by: Jerry F
Expert Reply:
The code 5.H (flashes 2x per second or a steady display) on the Prodigy P2 # 90885 indicates the brake wire is seeing a short during idling conditions or using test lights or non-Tekonsha testers can cause this error code.
If test lights aren't the issue, take a look at your ground locations and the trailer connectors and make sure it's free of dirt and corrosion. Also, check for damaged, pinched or frayed wires or if the insulation has cracked or been worn to the point where copper is contacting the frame. Check the brake wire from the controller to the 7-way to see if it's pinched or broken anywhere. If you don't have a circuit tester, you could use the # PTW2993.
