Question:
Hi, I noticed that the Curt tow hitch description for a current model Toyota Sienna mentions that it goes up to 5000 lbs towing capacity with a weight distributing hitch. Toyota literature says the max towing for a Sienna is 3500 lbs. Does the use of a weight distr hitch actu7ally increase the max safe towing limit for the Sienna to 5000, or is it just the hitch itself is capable of that? Thanks!

It is just the hitch that is capable of the higher capacity when using weight distribution. Some vehicles will have a weight carrying capacity and a weight distribution capacity. It doesn't sound like your 2015 Toyota Sienna has a weight distribution capacity so you would be limited to the 3,500 pounds specified for the vehicle.
Also you will want to check the owners manual because Toyota may require additional items to meet the max capacity including a transmission cooler and/or power steering cooler.
Coolers are not vehicle specific so the most popular cooler for Siennas is # D13503. And for power steering coolers the most popular option is # D13200.
Trailer hitch # C13105 is the most popular option for your Sienna. I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK4. It comes with a ball mount with a 2-3/4 inch rise or 4 inch drop, interchangeable ball set, hitch pin and clip, and a storage bag.
If the ball mount kit does not have the right rise or drop to tow the trailer level, use the link I have included that explains how to measure to choose a ball mount to tow the trailer level.
For trailer wiring, if you have an SE model use # 118498. If you do not have an SE model use # 118648
