Question:
Is the clasp galvanized/zinc plated or is it raw steel? Just wondering because if it is welded, Id have concerns with welding galvanized/zinc.

Expert Reply:
The Curt D-ring, # J-705, is raw steel. It is not zinc plated or galvanized. It is meant to be welded onto another steel surface. Welding zinc or galvanized steel does have challenges and can produce toxic fumes so going with a raw steel component is the way to avoid that.
